Based in Stratford upon Avon, Cooper’s studio became famous for its lifelike detail and country artists collection, celebrating the deep connection between man, animal, and trade.

The sculpture depicts a weary blacksmith in traditional work attire. complete with classic braces, a flat cap and a leather apron taking a moment of repose on his anvil. Beside him sits his loyal black labrador, leaning into its master’s hand.
