Rising like a piece of architecture, the design is stepped, rhythmic, and deliberate, turning a functional object into a sculptural vertical presence.

The base is constructed from four intersecting oak planes, each cut in a stepped silhouette that gives the lamp its unmistakable sense of movement and structure. This geometric foundation is crowned by a circular table, from which the tall central stem rises in a calm, elegant line. Particularly beautiful is the detailing of the shaft, accented on all sides with applied bead-like ornament in black stained wood.

The reconstructed fringed shade completes the piece beautifully. The bold red colour, and faceted form in combination with the fringe adds just the right touch of Amsterdam School bizarreness. A silhouette of confidence and flair. The effect is slightly eccentric, highly atmospheric, and exactly right for the period.
