He designed lacquered furniture, such as his well-known double-shelfed side table, as early as 1924. During this period, Groult created modern, elegant, and practical designs with clear geometry and no ornamentation. For Groult, innovation did not necessarily mean a lack of ornamentation. High-quality materials and craftsmanship, as well as rich decorations and colors, are typical of many of his pieces. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
