The figure stands before a bocage support on a rococo base, with bright enamel decoration and gilding. The modelling is clear and well balanced, with an expressive face and theatrical character.

Samson became known for high-quality interpretations of historic porcelain, particularly Chelsea. Encyclopaedia Britannica notes the firm’s production of hard-paste copies after Chelsea, while museum acquisitions and international exhibitions confirm its recognised status in the 19th century.

Mark: small gold anchor to reverse.
