This vintage wicker fishing creel was once a trusty companion for anglers, keeping their catch cool and fresh by dampening the basket and lining it with moss.
Possibly not handwoven, it’s believed to date back to the early 1940s and still has its original straps. The top features an embossed 12-inch ruler and an original Gem Jr. “nipper” by Rexall, bearing a 1922 patent number An arrow-shaped design on the front suggests it may have been made in Japan.
