Recognizable by its colors and tribal-inspired design, this large pitcher by Yvon Roy is a beautiful piece from the 1950s. The ceramist began his career as an assistant in Picasso's studio in Vallauris before establishing his own ceramics workshop in Durtal in the 1950s. This lovely mid-century ceramic piece is typical of the artist: a stylized blue-green bird on a milky white glazed background, with a ringed neck and base, creating a modern and bohemian charm.
The pottery is a good size and in excellent condition. It is signed on the base.
