Retrieved from Shanxi Province, this 19th century refined cabinet is crafted from solid elm wood. The rectangular body is centered by a large, circular brass lock plate with a traditional sliding pin and teardrop pulls, which secure two doors. Inside, the cabinet offers a spacious storage area divided by a single fixed shelf. The piece is distinguished by its elaborate base, which includes a finely carved frieze with a continuous fretwork pattern and a lower apron embellished with hand-painted scrolling motifs and a central medallion. This provincial piece balances a minimalist aesthetic with intricate decorative details, making it a versatile addition to any contemporary or traditional interior.
