Part of the "Interventions" series from Methinks Art Studio, this piece represents a bridge between historical iconography and contemporary studio practice.
Starting with a found vintage depiction of the Zen patriarch Bodhidharma (Daruma), I have personally reworked the piece in my studio to enhance its spiritual intensity. The portrait is housed in a deep, hand-carved arched wooden frame that creates a shrine-like architectural presence.
The Artist's Touch:
The original imagery has been layered with studio-applied textures and tones, deepening the wabi-sabi aesthetic and emphasizing the "awakened" gaze of the subject. The frame’s patina has been further refined to give it the weight and character of a sacred relic.
