Silversmiths of this level often produced collars, mounts, and metal fittings while sourcing the crystal components from specialized glassmakers. It is therefore likely that the crystal body was not produced directly by Cacchione, but commissioned from an Italian crystal workshop and later fitted with the silver collar. The exceptional quality of the material and the sophistication of the workmanship suggest a possible production in a workshop in Colle di Val d’Elsa (Siena, Italy), historically one of the most important centers of crystal production in Italy, so renowned that the town is often referred to as the “Bohemia of Italy.”The body of the decanter features an extraordinary geometric pattern of deep square-cut facets, achieved through wheel cutting followed by careful grinding and polishing, traditional techniques of the finest European crystal production. The surface reflects light in a vibrant and dynamic manner, creating a refined play of reflections that highlights the purity and transparency of the crystal. The artisans of Colle di Val d’Elsa, renowned masters of crystal craftsmanship, were able to enhance the beauty of the material through precise and complex cutting work characterized by remarkable formal harmony. The result is an object of great elegance in which luminosity, clarity, and brilliance combine to emphasize its refined aesthetic quality. A particularly sophisticated detail is found in the grooves of the cut decoration, where a delicate line of pure gold has been applied to accentuate the geometry of the facets and add a precious and luminous accent, creating a warm contrast with the clarity of the crystal. The stopper, also made of solid cut crystal, echoes the architectural geometry of the body and is set into an elegant 925 sterling silver collar, hallmarked with the “39 MI” mark of the Cacchione firm and the fasces symbol, an element that places the production most likely between 1930 and 1935. The decanter also retains the original label of the Roman jewelry and silverware retailer “Ditta Ubaldo Uball,” where the piece was originally sold, offering a rare testimony to the network of luxury boutiques that distributed high-quality Italian craftsmanship during the period. The overall design beautifully expresses the elegance of Italian Art Deco, where the purity of geometric forms meets the richness of materials and exceptional artisanal skill. This decanter can be used for whiskey or fine spirits, but it also lends itself perfectly to a decorative function. Displayed on a bar cabinet, sideboard, console, or cocktail table, it becomes a refined focal point capable of enhancing both classic and modern interiors, integrating beautifully with Art Deco, mid-century, or contemporary settings. A charming and collectible object that combines artistic crystal craftsmanship, Milanese silverwork, and the history of early 20th-century Italian design. It is particularly appealing for collectors of Italian silver, enthusiasts of Art Deco barware, and admirers of 1930s–1940s interior design. Dimensions Height: 22 cm (8.66 in.).
