This is a museum-level1920s antique mahjong set produced in China for the Chinese/Asian market. It is hard to let go of it because it is truly unique and the set has been in my family for 2 generations and is part of my family's heirloom .
It includes 144 tiles as well as 4 blank tiles, a wind bettor made of buffalo horn and bone, counting sticks, and bone dices.
The mahjong is a traditional dovetailed mahjong made of bone and bamboo. The ration of bamboo and bone is about 1/5 bamboo 4/5 bone, that is, the highest quality. The condition of the set is astounding: it is in amazing shape.
The carving is simply EXCEPTIONAL: there are hardly any pieces of this quality in the market. The level of decoration and the detail and quality of the carving speaks for itself.
The box is a classic wooden box with figural bone inlay work.
