This set is attributed to T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb. The set was purchased along with a marked Widdicomb dining table from a one owner family claiming to have had the set since the late 50s or earlier 60s. The chairs have no labels, and we cannot find this exact example of this armchair from available Widdicomb catalogs. However, we have bought and sold several T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings pieces over the years and can confidently say the joinery, quality of construction and somewhat modified Klismos style base to the chairs are consistent with known pieces. ***Sellers note: We have included a photograph of the label on the dining table to help you research the set but to reiterate there are no labels or identifying numbers on the set of chairs. The wavey splat backrest separates this style of chair from other examples we know of, and we love how the back has a fin-like accent; see photographs. The seats could use new upholstery because they show stains, an easy fix as the seat panels pop out with the removal of a few screws. The finish has some wear marks on the armrests and upper backrests, most notably on the handrest portion of the armrests. Please see all photographs for an overall representation of condition.
