Offered is a mid 20th Century, circa. 1960s, Italian-made hand-thrown pottery ashtray that has a glossy brown glaze as well as textured and incised surface with painted abstract flowers and leaves. It was likely made by Italica Ars, the renowned artistic ceramics factory founded by Tito di Antonio Bellini in Lastra a Signa, a village near Florence. Known for hand-painted majolica and terracotta wares, the ashtray still bears its "Made in Italy" sticker adhered on the bottom.
