Handcrafted in Murano glass, the bowl is formed in deep azure blue sommerso layers, with colour density concentrated toward the base and gradually lightening into a more luminous azure as the walls rise. The softly rounded square silhouette retains subtle asymmetry, revealing the hand-shaped character of the making process and the individual intervention of the artisan during firing. This organic irregularity is integral to the design, giving the piece a fluid architectural presence associated with Italian modernist glassmaking of the period. Attributed to Flavio Poli, whose sommerso designs for Seguso helped define post-war Murano production, the bowl reflects the restrained elegance and technical clarity associated with that tradition. Larger than many comparable examples, it functions equally well as a decorative centrepiece bowl, vide-poche, or sculptural tabletop object. Condition is very good for age and use, with the glass remaining lustrous throughout and only minimal wear visible to the polished base, consistent with careful handling over time. Dimensions: 5.5 cm high x 12 cm wide x 12 cm long (2.17 in high x 4.72 in wide x 4.72 in long). See less
