Through vibrant, undefined brushstrokes and vivid, intense colors (both oil and pastel) that are attentive to atmospheric variations, Veronese artist Erma Zago often portrays glimpses of city life, set in the streets and parks of the cities he inhabits, predominantly Milan. This is the case in this view of the Milanese monument, the column surmounted by the Cross, located in Largo Augusto in Milan, which takes its name from the Verziere or Verzée, the ancient fruit and vegetable market that was once located there.
