This book is a biography told thru 135 of the most beautiful photographs taken in Cy Twombly's studios and homes in New York, Rome, Bassano in Tverina, Gaeta, Itri and Lexington, Virginia. The journey begins with the studio Cy Twombly shared with Robert Rauschenberg on Fulton Street in Soho, New York City in the early 1950's. It ends at his birthplace in Lexington, Virginia in the last studio and home Cy Twombly set up towards the end of his life and which he used until his passing in 2011. The pictured locations are revealed as unique repositories of art, antiquities, antiques and furniture and as sanctuaries for the artist's contemplation and creative expression --a life between ancient Mediterranean culture and contemporary art.
