Ron Lederer "Urban Oriental" Studio Art Pottery Vessel with Metal Torii Gate Stand — Forrest Valley Pottery, Nashville TN — With Original Brochure
A striking example of American studio art pottery from Nashville ceramicist Ron Lederer (1936–2015), from his Urban Oriental™ line produced at Forrest Valley Pottery in Nashville, Tennessee.
This sculptural piece combines a wheel-thrown matte black stoneware vessel with a hand-formed dark patinated metal armature inspired by Japanese torii gate and Asian architectural forms — a signature design element of Lederer's acclaimed work. The two-part construction creates a dramatic sculptural silhouette that is both functional (as a vase) and purely artistic.
