The frame … Read more An elegant Empire-style armchair, crafted in Italy in the early 19th century from fine solid and veneered mahogany. The frame is distinguished by its harmonious proportions and the quality of its carving, clearly evident in the refined curled armrests, sculpted with stylized leaf motifs that lend movement and decorative richness to the overall design. These elements, while maintaining the sobriety typical of the Empire style, introduce a more lively and sculptural note, already close to the Charles X period. The straight and solid backrest is lightened by an elegant central perforated element with facing curvilinear motifs, lending visual lightness and refinement to the overall design. The slightly saber-shaped and tapered front legs blend perfectly with the linearity of the frame, while the rear legs follow a more sober line. The seat has recently been expertly restored and reupholstered with traditional spring padding, ensuring comfort and durability. The blue fabric upholstery with small gold motifs enhances the warm tone of the mahogany. Condition: Excellent. Professionally restored while respecting the original structure.
