Part of a recognised Samson series known as the “Four Muses”, the figure shows a classical female holding grapes, with a tambourine at her feet.

The decoration is highlighted by a vivid cobalt-blue drapery with gilt ornament, combined with soft flesh tones and carefully painted features.

The underside bears a puce mark of a crown above a letter “D”, used by Samson in imitation of Derby factory marks.

An attractive cabinet piece with strong decorative appeal and classical subject matter.
