Elegant bronze sculpture depicting a young nude female figure captured in a playful, animated pose, traditionally identified as La Ranocchietta (“The Little Frog”), a subject closely associated with Aurelio Mistruzzi’s refined and lyrical sculptural language and a smaller prototype of the Fountain in Monza, Italy, the Piazza dell'Arengario. The figure is shown mid-motion, her body subtly bent forward with knees flexed and torso inclined, as if reacting to or observing the small creature delicately held in her raised right hand. Her left arm extends downward in counterbalance, enhancing the sense of movement and spontaneity. The composition conveys a moment of lightness and youthful curiosity, rendered with a naturalistic yet idealized treatment of anatomy. Mistruzzi’s academic training and sensitivity to classical form are evident in the harmonious proportions and smooth modeling of the body, while the dynamic posture introduces a modern vitality characteristic of early 20th-century Italian sculpture.
