An exceptional and museum-worthy Murano glass vase designed by Ercole Barovier for Barovier & Toso in 1938, from the renowned “a mugnoni” series. This iconic piece is defined by its tall cylindrical form animated by applied glass mugnoni—solid, organic prunts that emerge across the surface in a seemingly spontaneous yet carefully balanced composition. As visible in the detailed images, each protrusion is individually shaped, creating a rich tactile rhythm and a highly sculptural presence. The crystal glass has naturally developed a delicate straw-toned patina over time, especially noticeable along the rim and around the applied elements. This warm nuance is characteristic of early Murano production and supports the dating to the late 1930s. The thick, slightly irregular rim—clearly shown in the close-ups—highlights the hand-finished quality of the piece, while the base reveals the depth and density typical of Barovier’s refined glassmaking techniques. Light interacts beautifully with the surface: reflections elongate and distort along the cylindrical body, while the mugnoni catch and refract light, enhancing the dynamic, almost fluid appearance of the vase. A rare and highly collectible example of early modern Murano glass, embodying Ercole Barovier’s experimentation with texture and form. Perfect as a statement vase or as a sculptural display object. Condition Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks observed. Minor wear consistent with age. Beautiful overall preservation. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
