A visually striking and historically significant set of three 19th-century European salt-glazed stoneware gin (jenever) bottles. This curated trio showcases the distinct craftsmanship and export history of both Holland and Germany, featuring crisp, embossed distiller’s marks and beautiful graduated heights that create an instant vignette.
The collection includes:
Blankenheym & Nolet (Schiedam, Holland): The largest of the set, featuring the iconic circular key seal from the historic gin capital of the world.
Herzogthum Nassau (Duchy of Nassau, Germany): A rarer find featuring a sophisticated crowned lion-and-shield seal. Its light buff clay body provides a beautiful tonal contrast to the Dutch bottles.
Blankenheym Zeer Oude Genever (Holland): A rare half-size format embossed with a crown and "Zeer Oude" (Very Old), representing the premium aged spirits of the era.
With their earthy tones, rich textures, and authentic kiln "kiss" marks, these bottles offer a perfect blend of primitive charm and historic interest. They are ideal for an antique barware collection, a rustic kitchen shelf, or as a sophisticated sculptural accent.
Condition:
Excellent antique condition. As is characteristic of 19th-century salt-glazed stoneware, these bottles show minor glaze flakes, firing marks, and light surface wear that authenticate their age. No major cracks or repairs. The embossed seals are sharp and highly legible.
