Hand-carved from a single block of limestone, the mortar has a simple, rounded shape and a dramatic handle carved in the form of a rat peeking over the edge. A motif for a well-endowed home with plenty to eat, the rat carries blessings of luck and abundance. Textured with chisel marks and a richly aged patina, the stone mortar looks enchanting as a planter for a small houseplant or a single flower. See less
