A beautifully aged primitive wooden chest distinguished by its unusual original iron hardware, hand-worked construction and richly developed patina. The original iron carrying hardware is particularly distinctive and adds to the chest's primitive, utilitarian character.

The chest features a hinged lid, original iron carrying handle, metal fittings and a wonderfully weathered wooden surface with pronounced grain, age marks and tonal variation throughout. The construction and irregularities give the piece an authentic folk-art character that is difficult to replicate in a newly made object.

At approximately 18.5" wide × 8" deep × 11" high, its compact scale makes it particularly versatile for interiors.

This is an especially effective designer styling piece for layering on a coffee table, console, bookshelf or bedside table. It can be used as a small storage chest, but its real appeal is as a decorative antique object that introduces texture, warmth and history to a contemporary interior.

Pair it with books, ceramics, artwork or other collected objects to create a layered, collected vignette.

A wonderful choice for interior designers, stylists and collectors looking for an authentic primitive object with strong surface character and distinctive hardware.

Condition: Antique condition with extensive age-related wear, surface marks, abrasions and patina consistent with age and use. The original hardware and construction show appropriate wear. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. See less
