features: this late 19th-century bookcase is recognizable as a directoire style piece with its fluted columns, turned toupie feet, and rigorous, understated lines. It opens with two wire-mesh doors to reveal four shelves. The lock is no longer functional, but the doors still close perfectly. The bookcase has four shelves, the height of which is adjustable thanks to a rack and pinion system.

restoration: the bookcase has been sanded on the exterior and partially on the interior. It was then washed, given a black patina, and finally, protected with wax.
