The vase features the iconic and sophisticated naturalistic Orchis (wild orchid) decoration, one of the most poetic themes of the École de Nancy.
This piece stands out for its exceptional craftsmanship and the complexity of its glass layering:
- Multilayered Glass with "Vitrifications": The body of the vase features an opalescent background with inclusions of glass powders in shades of saffron yellow, ochre, and amber brown, creating a warm, deep internal light (marbled effect).
- Acid Etching and Polychrome Enamels: The botanical decoration is created through a deep acid etching that shapes the lanceolate leaves and stems. The orchid flowers are masterfully hand-finished with vitreous enamels in shades of purple and violet, with the characteristic details of the labellum and petals rendered with almost scientific precision.
