Attributed to otto schulz, one of sweden’s most distinctive designers of the early 20th century, known for combining traditional craftsmanship with expressive decorative detailing. A highly decorative swedish leather footstool attributed to otto schulz for boet, dating from the 1930s–1940s.
the stool features a striking sculptural silhouette with elegantly curved sides and richly detailed hand-applied studwork in the traditional “bopoint” technique, characteristic of schulz’s workshop. The dense pattern of metal studs creates a bold ornamental expression, while the aged leather surface displays a deep and authentic patina developed over decades.
constructed with a solid wooden frame, the piece reflects high-quality swedish craftsmanship and durability. The original leather upholstery remains intact, preserving its historical character.
a loose bouclé cushion has been added for comfort, offering a soft contrast to the rich leather tones. The cushion is removable, allowing the stool to be displayed in its original form.
a rare and highly characterful piece, ideal as a footstool, occasional seat, or sculptural accent in both classic and contemporary interiors. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
