The freeform truncated cone shape is hand-shaped, with a substantial, thick-walled body that appears almost crumpled, lending the piece a strong, monolithic presence. The surface is worked with a network of applied glass trails that wrap around the body, creating a layered and dimensional texture. These are overlaid with black glass trails, finished with an iridescent, oil-slick effect that reveals subtle rainbow tonalities as light shifts across the surface. The contrast between the clarity of the base glass and the darker overlays produces a dynamic yet controlled composition. Attributed to Rinaldi’s Liane series, the design references vine-like forms, with tendril applications encircling and accentuating the vase’s irregular contours. The result is both sculptural and functional, equally suited as a standalone object or as a vessel within a modern interior. Condition is very good for age and use, with minor surface wear consistent with handling. There are no chips, cracks, or structural damage.
