An exceptional testament to the centuries-old theatrical tradition of the opera dei pupi, perfect for discerning collectors and folklore lovers. This precious and rare pair of hand-crafted sicilian puppets represents a true piece of italian cultural history, capable of enriching any setting with its epic and chivalrous charm.
subject and style: the two puppets depict proud paladins and saracen warriors, ready to relive the exploits of the carolingian epic. The figures are distinguished by their expressively painted faces and richly embossed armor, complete with shields, plumed helmets, and turbans, paired with finely sewn velvet and colorful fabric robes.
material and finish: the puppets feature a articulated wooden frame, covered in fabric and protected by magnificent hand-forged brass armor. As attested by the very rare original tags preserved on the figures, these works are signed "le marionette di francesco montoro" and certified "made in sicily," faithfully crafted and painted according to the island's ancient traditions.
