An exceptional and rare Swedish pewter compote bowl designed by Edvin Ollers in 1907, a celebrated figure in early 20th-century Scandinavian design. This sculptural centerpiece exemplifies the refined transition between Art Nouveau and early modernist aesthetics, characterized by its clean geometry and restrained elegance. The bowl features a sharply conical body rising from a circular pedestal foot, accented by a delicate beaded collar. Its elongated, gently curved handles extend horizontally, lending both balance and a distinctive architectural presence. The surface retains a soft, naturally aged patina, enhancing the depth and character of the pewter. Ollers’ work is distinguished by its clarity of form and understated ornamentation—qualities that are beautifully expressed in this piece. Both functional and decorative, it serves equally well as a centerpiece or as part of a curated collection of Scandinavian decorative arts. A rare and collectible example of early Swedish modern design.
