Elegant Louis XVI Writing Desk – Parma Area, Late 18th Century
Splendid solid walnut writing desk, dating back to the refined cabinetmaking of the Parma area in the late 18th century (full Louis XVI period). This piece is distinguished by its geometric rigor and formal elegance typical of Italian neoclassicism.
Main Features:
Top: Large rectangular top with a fine light-colored wood trim around the edge, enhanced by a warm, deep patina that reflects its age.
Undertop: Equipped with a spacious central drawer. The drawer front is embellished with a trimmed geometric frame that matches the top's motif.
Hardware: Features a finely crafted bronze keyhole and handles with garland and urn motifs, classic iconographic elements of the Louis XVI style.
Supports: The cabinet rests on four elegant inverted pyramid legs, connected to the band by a connecting nut. The leg ends with the classic "spinning top" foot.
Construction Details: The back and sides are finished, allowing the cabinet to be placed in the center of a room.
Conservation Status:
The cabinet is in excellent overall condition. The structure is solid, and the wood retains its natural luster. It exhibits normal signs of aging, authenticating its age without compromising its aesthetics or functionality.
