Limited edition, numbered & signed. Dimensions: W 8 x D 8 x H 22 cm. Materials: Aluminium. Specimen Vessel is assembled without welding, adhesives, or visible fasteners, relying instead on pressure and precision-fit tolerances. The result is a form that remains clean, continuous, and quietly exacting. Its finely brushed aluminium surface reflects light with restraint, revealing subtle shifts in texture, edge, and geometry. The finish gives the object a technical refinement without sacrificing calm. An interchangeable lid system introduces compositional flexibility, allowing the vessel to support changing botanical or sculptural arrangements while maintaining its formal discipline. Rooted in structural honesty, reversibility, and material control, Specimen Vessel stands as both container and framework — an object whose precision carries its own atmosphere. The Case Study. This piece is part of the Case Study collection, which follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. The work of Bureau of Entropy follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. Objects are developed through two primary binding principles: precise interlocking parts with minimal tolerances, and gravity used as a structural agent. Form follows function not as a slogan, but as constraint. Less is more not as style, but as discipline. Within this corridor, forms emerge that recall ancient, culturally tested archetypes — objects whose functions have endured for millennia. Their familiarity is not nostalgic, but structural. Each object represents a specific condition within this ongoing case study. Bureau of Entropy is a design collective founded in 2025 by Marvin Julian Freund and Matthias Figurowicz. The collective is rooted in a shared background in toolmaking craftsmanship, where both founders developed a deep understanding of material behaviour, precision manufacturing, and metalworking processes. This early, hands-on experience continues to inform their approach to construction and structural logic. Following this foundation, Freund pursued studies in architecture with a focus on spatial design, proportion, and material presence, while Figurowicz studied mechanical engineering, specialising in structure, mechanics, and functional systems. Over time, their distinct disciplines evolved in parallel, shaping complementary perspectives on form and function. In 2025, these paths converged in the formation of Bureau of Entropy. Today, the collective works at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and craftsmanship, developing furniture and lighting objects that emphasise structural clarity, material intelligence, and reduced form. The work operates between functional object and sculptural presence, positioning itself within the field of collectible design. See less
