The “giglio” krater, crafted in exquisite majolica, echoes the ancient greek cups once used for mixing water and wine, while its decoration pays homage to the opulent ornaments of the deruta tradition. The interior features spiraling floral motifs in golden yellow that pop against a cobalt blue backdrop. Externally, the vase showcases contour bands adorned with various vegetal elements. In the uppermost part, pairs of large lanceolate leaves in rich ocher yellow with white highlights are arranged in perfect symmetry, alternating with small trilobate plant shapes and delicate berries. The rest of the exterior is embellished with modular decorative motifs that seamlessly adapt to the varying widths of the contour bands, including the hem, belly, and foot. A refined touch is added by the traditional peacock feather motifs in the lower band, rendered in soft light blue and yellow shades shaded with white.
