Limited edition of 20 pieces + 4 Artist's Proof. Dimensions: W 42 x D 42 x H 46 cm. Materials: Aluminium. Siniya of Merzouga is a side table constructed as a closed geometric system. Eight vertical panels lean into one another to produce an octagonal top and a body defined as much by interval as by mass. The object does not rely on volume alone; it works through rhythm, cutout, and controlled repetition. Openings in the tabletop and side walls reveal the structure beneath, allowing light and shadow to participate in the reading of the form. Depending on angle and atmosphere, the table can appear monolithic or unexpectedly light. The brushed aluminium surface intensifies that variability. In cooler surroundings it reads almost industrial; in warmer interiors it takes on softer metallic tones. The object registers its environment without becoming passive to it. Siniya of Merzouga is not conceived as a neutral support. It is a compact architectural presence — a side table defined by geometry, atmosphere, and the quiet exactness of its own construction. The Case Study. This piece is part of the Case Study collection, which follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. The work of Bureau of Entropy follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. Objects are developed through two primary binding principles: precise interlocking parts with minimal tolerances, and gravity used as a structural agent. Form follows function not as a slogan, but as constraint. Less is more not as style, but as discipline. Within this corridor, forms emerge that recall ancient, culturally tested archetypes — objects whose functions have endured for millennia. Their familiarity is not nostalgic, but structural. Each object represents a specific condition within this ongoing case study. Bureau of Entropy is a design collective founded in 2025 by Marvin Julian Freund and Matthias Figurowicz. The collective is rooted in a shared background in toolmaking craftsmanship, where both founders developed a deep understanding of material behaviour, precision manufacturing, and metalworking processes. This early, hands-on experience continues to inform their approach to construction and structural logic. Following this foundation, Freund pursued studies in architecture with a focus on spatial design, proportion, and material presence, while Figurowicz studied mechanical engineering, specialising in structure, mechanics, and functional systems. Over time, their distinct disciplines evolved in parallel, shaping complementary perspectives on form and function. In 2025, these paths converged in the formation of Bureau of Entropy. Today, the collective works at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and craftsmanship, developing furniture and lighting objects that emphasise structural clarity, material intelligence, and reduced form. The work operates between functional object and sculptural presence, positioning itself within the field of collectible design. See less
