The rim of the plate is divided into vertical panels filled with symbols of good fortune. In the center, a figure of a deer is painted in a Chinese landscape with a pine tree, clouds, and a rock. Kraak porcelain is a specific type of blue and white Chinese export porcelain that was produced specifically for the European market between approximately 1570 and 1650 (late Ming Dynasty).
