The “Blue Dolphins” plate, crafted in polychrome majolica, features a beautifully wavy mixtilinear edge, divided into sixteen bands arranged in a striking radial pattern. Half of these bands showcase delicate leaf shoots arranged in perfect symmetry, framing heart-shaped figures that cradle intricate acanthus leaves. The alternating eight bands are adorned with decorative motifs of peacock feathers, creating an elegant embroidery against a softly shaded light blue and green background. Adding to its charm are four metamorphic figures resembling dolphins, strategically placed in mirror symmetry. Their vibrant gold en yellow color contrasts beautifully with the celestial vanadium hues of the surrounding decorations. A decorative frame, embellished with small sequential lobed motifs in gold, outlines the plate’s edge and the bands, enhancing its refined aesthetic.
