Model 223-45, finished in the coveted "Lora" glaze, produced in the mid-to-late 1960s. This imposing piece stands 45 cm tall with a body diameter of 26 cm and weighs 3.1 kg.

The vase features a classic bulbous form with a tapered neck and flared rim, finished in Scheurich's celebrated fat lava glaze technique. The heavily textured surface — with its characteristic volcanic, crater-like relief in white and black — covers the neck, shoulder, and lower body, creating a raw, almost geological quality. Around the widest point of the belly, a bold band of vivid glossy red glaze breaks through the lava texture in dramatic jagged, flame-like forms. The contrast between the rough, tactile lava surface and the smooth, intensely coloured red centre is what makes this particular colour combination one of the most iconic and collectable in the entire West German pottery canon. The interior is finished in a dark gloss glaze.
