Stunning sommerso glass vase designed by the pioneer of Swedish glass art Vicke Lindstrand and made by Kosta (Sweden, 1950s/1960s). … Read more Stunning sommerso glass vase designed by the pioneer of Swedish glass art Vicke Lindstrand and made by Kosta (Sweden, 1950s/1960s). This beautiful vase is made of thick navy blue glass encased in pale grey layer and surrounded by transparent glass. It is extremely decorative. Signed "Kosta 01825". Height: 15.5 cm/6.1''; width: 14 cm/5.5''; depth: 6 cm/2.4''. Quite heavy (weight: 2.3 kg). Very good vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. Light wear consistent with age and use (stains at the top, some usual scratches).

"Sommerso" (Italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in Murano which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a transparent layer. This piece has an attribution mark,
