Elegant sledging couple: the lady in a long purple skirt, white jumper and white bonnet, a long green patterned scarf … Read more Elegant sledging couple: the lady in a long purple skirt, white jumper and white bonnet, a long green patterned scarf around her neck, high warm gaiters over her heeled shoes, the gentleman in fine light and dark brown checked trousers, a grey turtleneck jumper and grey cap, green woollen stockings and black ankle boots, both sitting one behind the other on the wooden sledge and leaning back as they race downhill. On a sloping, irregular snow base. Excellent design with delicate decorations. Designer: alfred könig (1871 - 1940) studied at the art academy in dresden, since 1897 he worked in the meissen manufactory as a designer and modeler. The artist specialized in the design of human figures in various variations, such as genre figures, children, athletes, soldiers etc.
