Conical vase, slightly bulbous at the base on a flush foot, tapering slightly as it curves upwards, opening out again … Read more Conical vase, slightly bulbous at the base on a flush foot, tapering slightly as it curves upwards, opening out again into a spherical shape after a constriction, with a narrower, inward-curving rim; colourless glass with flaky white, yellow-greenish, and burgundy powder inclusions in the base area, yellow-orange, green and deep blue enamel fusing, high-etched decoration featuring wild blackberries and foliage, frosted glass-like satin finish in the background, raised areas smoothly polished, Cameo signature 'DAUM NANCY' with the Cross of Lorraine on the wall between leaves and fruit. Design after Henri Bergé. Technique: Handmade cameo glass Glass overlaid with several layers, with high-cut worked out motifs. Since the middle of the 19th century, the design has also been done by etching. Cameo glass vessels were already being made in antiquity; cameo glass vessels were already being made in ancient times, and at the end of the 19th century this glass art was further developed, especially in Nancy.
