A rare and stunning t1 coffee table designed by osvaldo borsani for tecno.
the table stands out for its silhouette, characterised by a spherical element positioned at the centre of the support column. The round top, made of white back-painted glass, rests on a harmonious chrome-plated steel base, consisting of a slender central leg that extends from a circular plate.
produced in limited numbers around 1950, osvaldo borsani did not archive the design; his daughter did so in 1990. Osvaldo borsani began working at a very young age in his family’s furniture-making business. In 1933, he took part in the fifth milan triennale with his design for the ‘casa minima’, which was awarded the silver medal. After graduating from the polytechnic, he formed friendships with numerous artists, including lucio fontana, agenore fabbri, aligi sassu, roberto crippa, fausto melotti, and arnaldo pomodoro, with whom he created significant works of art in the fields of furniture and interior design. In 1953, together with his brother fulgenzio, he founded tecno, the major project to which he would devote his entire life, shifting production from bespoke to mass-produced items. His first industrial design works were the p40 adjustable armchair (1953) and the d70 sofa with a reversible seat. In the late 1960s, osvaldo borsani, together with marco fantoni and valeria borsani, established the tecno design centre to develop new products, manage major interior architecture projects, experiment with new technologies, and devise corporate communication strategies and tools. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
