The fine … Read more This impressive ceramic art wall plate was handcrafted by the renown German ceramist Reiner Gehrig during the 1970s. The fine piece is glazed in rich hues of red, green and yellow.

Since early 1974, master potter Reiner Gehrig has been showcasing the full range of his ceramic skills in his own studio in Grünstadt, Germany, creating one-of-a-kind pieces in porcelain and stoneware fired in a wood-fired kiln.

A rich palette of glazes, he has developed himself in a wide variety of color shades, gives his works their distinctive character.
For porcelain pieces, Reiner Gehrig prefers to use crystalline basalt-feldspar glazes. Form and glaze always form a unity in his work.

For this plate, Reiner Gehrig also used a glaze with glass shards/glass granules, a special pottery technique in which crushed glass is melted into the ceramic glaze or directly into the clay to create crystalline, color-intensive effects.
