His works are marked by a realist yet atmospheric style, capturing beauty in the seemingly ordinary. Bendtsen is represented in several Danish museums, including the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK) and ARoS, and was awarded numerous prizes and honors, including the Order of the Dannebrog in 1964.
