A wonderful Bauhaus-style caged glass lamp with a vintage pleated, natural paper shade. This clean design defies the skill employed in the creation of the delicate blown glass pockets trapped inside of fine mesh of metal wire "caging".
The lamp is in very good original condition with a warm, age-developed patina and some surface wear to the metal. We love the columnar form, which feels like it could have been pulled directly from the historic Maison de Verre, designed by Pierre Chareau. The lamp was clearly inspired by the French Industrial Modernist movement and Bauhaus design.
The clean, cylindrical glass base, lightly "caged" by the metal wire has a chrome neck and is now finished with a pleated shade. The base carries the design "work" with the shade providing a natural element that does not interfere with the incredible design of the base.
Please note that the warmth of the shade and incandescent bulb result in an ombre effect in some photos when the lamp is on.
