This Haveli Scroll is a tactile fragment of 19th-century history, salvaged from the grand architecture of colonial India. Originally serving as a door header or decorative frieze, this piece is hand-carved from solid teak, featuring a continuous relief of organic, swirling floral scrolls that echo the French Colonial influence on traditional Mughal design. At its center remains a rare vestige of its functional past: an original hand-forged iron ring and square-notched hardware, once used to secure heavy timber doors.
The wood carries a magnificent, sun-bleached patina that highlights the "wabi-sabi" nature of salvaged teak—showing deep grain variations and the softened edges of a century of use. This lintel is a versatile architectural anchor; it can be installed horizontally above a modern doorway or window to add immediate historical gravity, or hung vertically as a rhythmic, sculptural wall study. It is a perfect addition for a Rustic Modern or Global Bohemian space that celebrates the beauty of found objects.
As an authentic architectural salvage piece, "The Haveli Scroll" is presented in its Original Antique Condition. It displays significant "earned character," including historical weathering, softened carving details, and the rustic oxidation of its original iron hardware. These marks are not flaws but are the essential proof of its 19th-century provenance.
