A very handsome pair of silver plate Champagne coolers, with great details and the classic Campagna urn form. These pieces would be great mantel decorations or cachepots, when not in use as coolers. Repousée foliate and gadrooned ornament embellishes the foot, body and rim of each and there is an engraved cartouche on the fronts, with the motto “Plus Ultra.” Ca. mid 20th century, stamped “Made in England” on the bottom of each. Good vintage condition, with very slight wear to the polished exterior surface, more signs of age and use to the interiors, one interior with some more persistent tarnish spots, underlying copper slightly visible, a couple of spots only at the back side.
