The central bronze figure, depicting a pharaoh or deity adorned with a nemes headdress, is intricately cast and features a hinged lid that opens to reveal a removable glass ink reservoir as well as outstreched arms to hold a pen. The figure is seated upon a circular brass base, which is engraved with a variety of stylized Egyptian hieroglyphic motifs, including scarabs, birds, and ankh symbols.
