The surrounding panel is finished in matte black with a black vinyl and gold trim edge banding that gives it a period-appropriate look. The effect when lit in a dark room is striking, with the warm amber glow receding into the distance. It hangs on a picture wire and can be oriented to present as square or a diamond, and plugs in via a standard cord.

The piece measures 30.25 inches wide and tall by 2 inches deep. It is in good vintage condition with some scuffs and light scratches to the surround, predominantly on the edge banding, consistent with age and use.
