This large unsigned mixed media work combines stretched canvas with layered burlap or similar coarse fabric built up under a monochromatic gesso or paint surface to create a deeply dimensional relief composition. Torn and manipulated fabric planes, corrugated texture sections, and raw frayed edges are arranged with a strong diagonal energy across the horizontal format, recalling the Arte Povera and Informel movements that were influential in the 1960s. The restrained palette of warm ivory and tan puts all the emphasis on surface and form, and it works exceptionally well as a result. It sits in a simple walnut float frame that suits it perfectly.
The piece measures 46.75 inches wide by 20 inches tall. It is in good vintage condition consistent with age. Please see all available photographs and consider them as part of the item description.
