This is a very nice set of 4 vintage Mies Van Der Rohe MR10 Chairs. We believe that they probably … Read more This is a very nice set of 4 vintage Mies Van Der Rohe MR10 Chairs. We believe that they probably date from the 1970s-80s, manufactured in Europe, but no maker's labels are present.

These are high quality versions of the iconic MR10 chair, with solid leather seats and backs (not laced) of thick, high-quality saddle-stitched leather (see photos). The back leather panels are held in place, preventing them from slipping down, by chrome hooks rather than the more common screws. (see photo) This is a small detail, but is an important feature indicating both quality and earlier production.

The leather is a very dark grey colour, almost a gun-metal grey, and this set of chairs is unusual in that regard.

The chairs have two bowed chrome support struts under the seats - although on one chair one of the struts is missing.

They originated in Paris, France and were imported by the owner to the United States. Original EDET international movers tags are still attached referencing this journey.

These are lovely vintage chairs with a very desirable patina. The leather is worn in all the right places, but is in good structural condition with none of the typical leather drying or cracking often found on these chairs. The chrome is in good condition with only minor surface patina, mostly along the base tubes. As previously mentioned, on one chair there is a missing bowed strut but the chair appears sturdy in spite of this.
