A rare complete … Read more This exceptional 18-inch Chinese Rice Barrel (Grain Storage Jar) dates to the late Qing Dynasty (c. 1890–1910). A rare complete set, it includes the original lidded storage vessel and its authentic Double Happiness (囍) carved wooden folding stand. The barrel features traditional stave construction and a vibrant, hand-painted green and gold lacquer finish with three Chinoiserie medallions depicting scholars, pagodas, and nature scenes. Symbolism & Marks: The Stand: The carved X-frame stand features the "Double Happiness" symbol, traditionally used to celebrate weddings and bring harmony to a home. Calligraphy: Both the base and the underside of the lid bear hand-brushed calligraphy marks. The base features the "福" (Good Fortune) shop mark, and the lid contains "Standard" measurement characters, proving its history as a certified marketplace vessel.
